Classic deer damage at my own home!

So why do people want to reduce deer populations? I said REDUCE, not eliminate. We love seeing them in our backyards, I mean look at that face! That's a female fawn that sleeps in the backyard, by the way.

Well this is definitely undesirable. But a VERY common sight here. I haven't seen a single house that doesn't have this damage, called "browse lines"
I mean, imagine a beautiful garden you have or a nicely kept hedgerow.... that turns like this once the snow falls. Even I was disappointed!

My footprints. Their footprints. And a pile of poop.

Deer adventures

The deer look particularly cute in the wintertime. From looking like orange kangaroos in the summer, they look like little fluffy huggable cuties now!

One of our tagged ones I tracked this morning.

More tagged deer!

New York State Fair

Went to the State Fair yesterday in Syracuse. It was pretty nice, LOTS of people, LOTS of fried food,

(like, oh my god)

and lots of local vendors. You could buy anything form local milk, to ice cream, to honey, maple syrup, cowboy hats, anything! And you could play those really loud and annoying games and win prizes. And there were lots of rides, including ferris wheels. But those make me sick so no rides for me.
And there were lots of show animals!

There was a Mullet Count. Business in the front, party in the back.

Cows!

Bunnies!

Chickens!

Horses!

Lil piggies!

New semester!

Hi everyone! Everything is going fine here. Classes are MUCH better now that I changed my major to Natural Resources. More about classes later.

This is what I've been up to with my new job as a deer research project tech.

We catch deer, sterilize them, and release them with radio collars and ear tags! Here is one of them from tonight

The new horses

Welcome, gypsy cobbs! If only you were all better behaved. They kick and bite because they are not trained :(
Makes my job harder.
It's a baybay.
