Mission Wolf demonstration!!!

Today we had a wonderful demonstration by Mission Wolf, based in Colorado. Today was their 20th year doing shows at Cornell.

This guy and his wife adopted captive-born wolves that were pets or movie animals, or unwanted by zoos. They made a big reserve for the wolves and take them around the country for public outreach.

The wolfies are tame and allow people to pet them! They're very sweet.

I'm sorry my pictures are blurry but my camera does not work well in low light/no flash.

You MUST look at the videos. The pictures are clearer and you can see their yellow eyes! So pretty.

This is Magpie. She's the oldest and adopted the little wolf, Iliana. She's a Canada gray wolf, 6 years old.

This is Abraham. He's a wolf/dog hybrid but they don't know what dog he has. He's the silliest and most social. 3 years old. He's the size of a Mexican wolf.

Keep in mind that wolves have larger heads, narrow elbows, tails that do not touch the ground, and snowshoe paws. They have big feet!

This is the puppy Iliana. You won't believe it but he just turned 6 months old! He's pure Arctic wolf, so he's bigger than the rest of the wolves.

Just so you know, Arctic, Red, and Timber wolves are ALL GRAY WOLVES. They are just different sizes and colors because they live in different environments.

This is Abraham saying hello to the audience. He sat on everybody in the first row. You could definitely tell he is half dog.

This is daddy wolf telling the puppy who's boss.

Here is a video of their vocalizations, but the picture is blurry.

What a pretty wolfie. There is a clear difference between Magpie and Abraham, the half wolf. Magpie's head was huge.

Uris library: A.D. White Library

Hey yall, just wanted to share my adventure of the day.

To start, the wind gusts hit 40mph today, which is RIDICULOUS. I got hit by leaves so hard it actually hurt!

Anyway, I took refuge in Uris library. This library is attached to the clock tower (McGraw tower). It has great views of Ithaca.

But! There's an amazing room there called the A.D. White Library.

Ohmymother, it's such a beautiful room. I literally couldn't do my studying because I kept looking around.

SO PRETTY!!!

Students call it the "Harry Potter room."
It looks straight out of Harry Potter I swear! Look at it! It's so pretty!!!

Actually, while I was there, an engaged couple were taking pictures there with a pro photographer. They were Cornell alumni, of course. So many Cornellians get married to each other, golly.

The library has 3 floors, but the floors are very low and open. It's a lot of fun to walk on the upper levels hehehe!

Mr. A.D. White had good taste, lemme tell ya.

Anyways, I'll be doing my studying here for sure! If I can concentrate on my work, that is.

Fall break

Hey everyone!

I'll be home from Friday to Tuesday for fall break.

I plan on sleeping and eating some HEALTHY food!!! Sleeping especially. I'm excited to sleep in my own room <3

I'll be visiting the eye clinic on Tuesday, in case you are reading this! Be prepared!!!

Perhaps I will see the rest of my lovely friends and family. If not, I'll see you in the winter!

Today's fun! DISSECTIONS!

Fun times in animal science today!

REPRODUCTION DISSECTIONS!!! FUN!!!!

Too bad thawed dead animals smell bad.... ewww.

Anways! The first dissection: a cow udder!!!

We played with it and squished it and squeezed it! There was still milk in it, amazing huh?
That udder was 50 lbs!!!
It's incredible how a cow can make gallons and gallons of milk a day and store it in its udder.

Then we dissected a chicken's reproductive system. We had a hen, and we even had an egg in the tract. We also cut open a rooster.

Did you know rooster testes are larger than their brains?
Yeah I thought that was funny too.

Then we played with an ultrasound machine. We saw my professor's heart and we saw our pulses too.

Then we inseminated a cow's uterus. Very cool too.

This was a nice intro to my class next semester, Animal Reproduction!

Yay.

Chemistry mid year exam!

..... you won't believe this, but lat year's average on this exam was 30%.

WHAT?!?!?!

I'm praying just to pass this. All I ask is to pass!!
