New York State Fair

Went to the State Fair yesterday in Syracuse. It was pretty nice, LOTS of people, LOTS of fried food,

(like, oh my god)

and lots of local vendors. You could buy anything form local milk, to ice cream, to honey, maple syrup, cowboy hats, anything! And you could play those really loud and annoying games and win prizes. And there were lots of rides, including ferris wheels. But those make me sick so no rides for me.
And there were lots of show animals!

There was a Mullet Count. Business in the front, party in the back.

Cows!

Bunnies!

Chickens!

New semester!

Hi everyone! Everything is going fine here. Classes are MUCH better now that I changed my major to Natural Resources. More about classes later.

This is what I've been up to with my new job as a deer research project tech.

We catch deer, sterilize them, and release them with radio collars and ear tags! Here is one of them from tonight

The new horses

Welcome, gypsy cobbs! If only you were all better behaved. They kick and bite because they are not trained :(
Makes my job harder.
It's a baybay.
FAT COW HORSE!

Some summer nature...

Ithaca is beautiful in the summer! Some things I have found around the barn:

Lots of song sparrows
AND THE BIGGEST SPIDER I HAVE EVER FOUND.
Behold the yellow and black garden spider. Harmless, but it was 2.5 inches long (EWWWW).

More from the veggie garden

More form the Annex vegatable garden! Above, CORN!
Onion!
Big cabbage...

The daily harvest.
Experiments on how to use the daily harvest. Squash cake, squash flower quesadillas, and zucchini/onion fritters.

A day at work

Good morning horsies (and I do mean morning. I mean 7am in the morning).

And you're probably going to ask me this. No, we do not ride the horses. They are not at the barn to be ridden, they are at the barn to recover from operations or injuries.

Grazing.... more grazing.......
Looks like a cow :)

Pretty horsie.
The humble veggie garden.

Cabbage!

PEAS GALORE!

Today's pickings.

Flor de calabaza! Time to make some quesadillas.

Corn and squash are looking quite lovely.

I can drive this! Call me a farm girl, I know how to do all the farm jobs now~

I see a groundhog!
